About Us

About Studio Moon

Studio Moon is a teeny home-based art studio in South Austin, TX. We use the term “micro studio” because it just feels right.

What began as a home studio for her business, Sister Moon Ceramics, has evolved into a space for artist Sarah McNally-Kamalsky to share her passion for creating.

We offer private and semi-private lessons in ceramics (wheel throwing or hand building), printmaking, watercolor, fiber arts and more.

We also offer mobile art experiences, perfect for a group of friends, a Girl Scout troop or a homeschool co-op.

Mobile ceramics birthday parties are also available. You provide the space and we bring the project to you and your guests!

About Sarah

Sarah McNally-Kamalsky is a multi-faceted maker with a focus on ceramics, print making and fiber arts. A transplant from New England, she has been creating art and tinkering since her youth – determined to take on any project that could be made by hand.

Leaving behind a corporate career when her son was born, Sarah found her joy in connecting with other families, creating various art and nature based homeschool co-ops in the South Austin area while building her home based ceramics business.

She loves finding community through art and watching the delight on people’s faces as they bring their ideas to reality through making.

When she’s not teaching, she is a student herself!

Sarah is currently working on completing her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts and hopes to go on to earn her master’s in Art Therapy.

Our Philosophy

Above all, we are an inclusive space. We believe that art is for everyone and an art studio should be a safe haven.

While we all strive to improve, we believe that art is just as much about the process as it is about what you get at the end. We focus on the joy, creativity and mindfulness inherent in making.

When it comes to our younger artists, we have a philosophy of kindness, patience and understanding. We meet our students where they are and follow their creative path, not ours. Sarah has a love for working with neurodivergent students and they are very welcome here.

Art, like life, is messy! At Studio Moon, we enjoy the mistakes and know that if we just keep making, progress will come.

About Hunter

Meet our studio cat. Hunter is a sweet old fella who was left behind by a neighbor when they moved. He adopted us and took to living in our garage while we were converting it into a studio space. While we wish he would come inside, he is not a fan of our indoor kitties and prefers to be king of his studio castle. If you have any allergies, please let us know and we can have him hang out in a different space during your visit.
